How it works

Lukaut is a safe way to report problems with government projects, leaders' promises and corruption. Here is what happens to a report, who sees it, and how we stay fair.

What happens to your report

These are the steps a report moves through. AI does the first check. A trained person signs off every report.

  1. ReceivedYour report reaches us. No one has checked it yet.
  2. CheckingAI looks at it first. Then a trained reviewer reads it and checks what they can.
  3. CheckedThe reviewer decides if it looks true.
  4. Passed onOnce agreements are in place, checked project and corruption reports can be passed on to the body that can act on them. Promise reports stay with us for our record.
  5. ClosedWe close a report when it has been dealt with, or when nothing more can be done.

Lukaut checks reports. It does not decide if anyone is guilty.

What you can report

Our guide shows what each kind of report covers, with examples.

What can I report?

Who we pass reports to

We do not pass on any reports yet.

Projects
The body responsible, once agreements are in place.
Promises
We keep them for our record of what leaders promise.
Corruption
The body responsible, once agreements are in place.

A report that names a person, or says public money was taken, can be passed on only to a body that looks into crime or corruption. It will never go to a provincial or district office, because the people named may work there.

Before a corruption report can be passed on, the reviewer writes a short summary of it. They take out anything that could show who sent the report.

What we publish and what we never publish

We never publish

  • The words, photos, voice notes or contact details people send us.
  • Corruption reports, or how many we get.
  • Reports about promises.
  • The name of any person or company in a report.
  • The exact place a report came from.

We may publish

  • Rounded counts of project reports, by province or by problem type. We never show a small count that could point to one person.

A report is a claim, not a proven fact. We never call a report true in public.

How we stay fair

Lukaut does not take sides. We do not support any party or leader, and we treat every report the same way, whoever it is about.

Lukaut is run by an independent test project. It is not linked to any government body. We will name who pays for Lukaut before it launches.

If we get something wrong, tell us and we will put it right. See how to contact us.
